About Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most diverse and scenic national parks. It stretches along the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and covers groundwater forests, open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and the alkaline Lake Manyara itself.

Despite its compact size, the park offers exceptional game viewing. It is world-famous for its tree-climbing lions and large troops of baboons, as well as elephants, giraffes, hippos, buffalo, and countless bird species.

Lake Manyara is also a paradise for bird lovers, especially during the wet season when thousands of flamingos gather along the lake shores.
