Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Moshi. Meet your guides, review your trekking equipment, and attend a detailed briefing covering the itinerary, safety, and acclimatization tips. Overnight in Moshi gives you time to rest and prepare mentally and physically for the adventure ahead.
Begin your trek at Lemosho Gate, entering the lush rainforest. Enjoy the serenity and fresh mountain air as you trek gradually through tall trees, moss-covered trunks, and abundant wildlife. Reach Big Tree Camp (2,650m) in the afternoon, where you can relax, enjoy tea, and admire the surrounding forest.
Trek through the upper rainforest into the moorland zone, passing unique vegetation such as giant lobelias and groundsels. Stop for scenic breaks and photos, then reach Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) in time to rest and acclimatize. Enjoy sweeping views of the Shira Plateau and Kilimanjaro’s summit.
Ascend across the Shira Plateau towards the Lava Tower, then descend into the Barranco Valley. Enjoy panoramic views, unique flora, and a sense of accomplishment as you reach Barranco Camp (3,950m). Optional short hikes help with acclimatization while offering stunning photographic opportunities.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall, then traverse the alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,600m), base for the summit push. The landscape is barren but majestic, with rocky terrain, glaciers, and expansive views of the surrounding peaks. Hydrate and rest early to prepare for the pre-dawn summit climb.
Begin a pre-dawn climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) for a breathtaking sunrise. Celebrate reaching Africa’s highest point and take memorable photos. Descend via Barafu to Mweka Camp (3,100m), passing changing landscapes and reflecting on your challenging yet rewarding journey.
Complete the descent to Mweka Gate where certificates are awarded. Transfer back to Moshi for showers, meals, and relaxation. Reflect on your incredible Lemosho Route adventure and prepare for onward travel or flights.
