Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Moshi town. Meet your trekking guides and porters, review gear, and attend a detailed pre-trek briefing. Learn about the route, daily distances, safety procedures, and tips for acclimatization. Overnight in Moshi provides a chance to rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration and permits. Begin the trek through the lush rainforest, surrounded by giant ferns, orchids, and moss-covered trees. The forest is alive with birds and other wildlife, providing excellent photo opportunities. Ascend gradually to Machame Camp (2,835m) and spend the afternoon resting, acclimatizing, and enjoying the views of the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro.
Trek through the heath and moorland zone, where vegetation becomes sparse, and the landscape opens up to spectacular views of the Kilimanjaro massif. Encounter unique plants like giant groundsels and lobelias. Reach Shira Camp (3,505m) in the afternoon, take short acclimatization hikes nearby, and enjoy the panoramic vistas as the sun sets behind Kilimanjaro’s peaks.
Ascend from Shira Camp, crossing rocky lava ridges and dramatic moorlands. Descend slightly into the Barranco Valley and set up camp at Barranco Camp (3,950m). Experience the famous Barranco Wall climb and enjoy views of glaciers, valleys, and the distant plains. The long day helps your body adapt to higher altitudes in preparation for summit night.
Continue the trek through the alpine desert, with sparse vegetation and increasingly rugged terrain. Reach Barafu Camp (4,600m), the base for the final summit push. Prepare equipment, enjoy a hearty dinner, and rest early for the pre-dawn ascent. The altitude is challenging, so hydration and rest are essential.
Begin the pre-dawn climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), where you will witness the unforgettable sunrise over Africa’s highest point. After celebrating your achievement, descend via Barafu and Mweka Camps, enjoying the changing landscapes and reflecting on the journey. Return to Moshi for overnight, showers, and a well-deserved celebration of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
