Trek Overview
The 5 Days Mount Meru Scenic Trek is the most relaxed and immersive way to explore Mount Meru. Designed for hikers who want maximum acclimatization, photography opportunities, and wildlife encounters, this trek offers an unforgettable journey through Arusha National Park.
With additional time on the mountain, trekkers enjoy shorter hiking days, improved safety at altitude, and stunning sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro from Socialist Peak. This trek is ideal as a standalone adventure or as preparation for Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 1 — Arrival in Arusha & Trek Briefing
Arrive in Arusha town, meet your mountain guide, and attend a full trek briefing. Gear check, safety instructions, and preparation for the Mount Meru adventure.
Day 2 — Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut
Begin trekking through grassland and rainforest with frequent wildlife sightings. The gentle ascent allows time to enjoy the scenery before reaching Miriakamba Hut.
Day 3 — Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (Acclimatization)
Trek through moorland vegetation to Saddle Hut. Optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru offers stunning panoramic views.
Day 4 — Summit Socialist Peak & Return to Miriakamba Hut
Start the summit climb around midnight, reaching Socialist Peak (4,566m) at sunrise. Descend carefully back to Miriakamba Hut for a well-earned rest.
Day 5 — Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate & Departure
Enjoy a relaxed descent through the forest to Momella Gate. Transfer back to Arusha or onward to your next adventure.
